I found one of it copy in bookshelf. Wow... its take me back to my tennager time 17 years ago., Tintin was my favorit comic books, beside Arad&Maya, Deni manusia Ikan, and Superman with his Liga Keadilan (justice league). My cousin never forget to brought it everytime he came home for holliday just for me with one condition.... never miss to be the first in class. I study hard for this purpose.... comic books. But Tintin is not only a comic book. It tell alot more about the world, culture, language, traditions.....and imaginations. Very different with today comic book which just tell nothing except pure imagination.
The Adventures of Tintin is a series of comic strips created by the Belgian artist Georges Rémi (1907–1983), who wrote under the pen name of Hergé. The series first appeared in French in Le Petit Vingtième, a children's supplement to the Belgian newspaper Le XXe Siècle on 10 January 1929. The success of the series saw the serialised strips collected into a series of twenty-four albums, spun into a successful magazine and adapted for film, radio, television and theatre. The series is one of the most popular European comics of the 20th century, with translations published in more than 50 languages and more than 200 million copies of the books sold to date. I read in Indonesian language. When I was kid, a book's price was less than 2000 rupiah. But now, it cost me above 50.000 rupiah. Lucky me some of 24 books I alredy have in my collection.
What make Tintin different with other comic book is its ability to transcend "time, language and culture" and its "universal appeal". Its so 'unik&menarik'. The relationship between the character, the words Herge use in every conversations very heart warming. I could't stop laughing if Prof. Calculus met Captain Haddock or when Thomson & Thompson, incompetent detectives lost in their investigation.
