"Every pregnant woman have the right to give birth and every child have the right to be born"

Birthright is a full scale centre for young pregnant women to give birth and assist them to move on. Faced with an alarming increase in the number of baby dumping cases, this shelter has managed to tackle the same proble for many years helping unwed pregnant women and guided ~the mother-to-be~ to make difficult decision to keep or give away their babies through legal channels.

Birthright was originally set up in 1999 by Henry K. Pillai.  He first started it on a small scale in 1980 by putting a bassinet outside the Home for the Destitute near Jalam MAsjid India di Kuala Lumpur to encourage unwed mothers to leave their babies there instead of dumping them elsewhere.

Those who need help, head first to the help center located on JAlan MAsjid India and in Petaling Jaya. Only after their cases are revieved will they be escorted to the home. Pastor Eileen Sim and Roy Tan run the centre, funded by fublic donations.

Henry Pillai said, young girls who get pregnant (by mistake) should never be pushed away by families and communities and forced to make another bigger mistake-dumping the baby, who is innocent.

There may be no simple solutions to curb this social ill, but Birthright  play a vital role in helping these young women to do the right thing.
